Objectives

These are the objectives of the Collaborating Center:

  • Ensure involvement with WHO structures (headquarters, regions and local offices) related to the health workforce, as well as other Collaborating Center and other national and international research and teaching entities
  • Strengthen the capacity of public health institutes in human resources for health in Portugal, Portuguese speaking African countries, Europe and other countries around the world
  • To contribute to the strategic planning of attraction, retention and distribution of the health workforce and the development of themes that are central to the quality of care: digital transformation, initial and lifelong training, public health emergencies
  • To contribute to the prospective planning of future workforce needs to ensure and maintain the resilience of health systems
  • To promote ihigh-quality research on human resources for health recursos humanos da saúde and its dissemination to wider audiences
  • To promote skills of management and leadership of the health workforce as a means of ensuring the quality of healthcare
  • To enhance the key role of human resources for health in public health emergencies and conflict zones
  • To contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by strengthening and building the capacity of the health workforce
