Philip J. Havik

Currently, his research focuses on the longitudinal analysis of health systems and epidemiological control and elimination programmes for Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), malaria and STDs in sub-Saharan Africa, and Angola, Guinea Bissau and Mozambique in particular. His work also addresses the broader history of public health and tropical medicine, as well as the medicinal uses of ethno-botanical species, indigenous healing traditions and integrative medicine in sub-Saharan Africa. In geographical terms his research focuses on sub-Saharan Africa, with an emphasis on Portuguese Speaking Countries (PALOP), and Guinea Bissau in particular.
