Welcome to the WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Workforce Planning and Policy. In July 2010, the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine at NOVA University Lisbon was officially designated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a Collaborating Centre.
The Vision for the Collaborating Centre
The Collaborating Centre is designed to support the WHO in achieving quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere and at all times by strengthening a workforce that is available and accessible, acts with quality and provides acceptable healthcare according to criteria of inclusion, respect and humanism.
Our Mission
The Collaborating Centre serves as a hub of expertise in the development of policies and planning for human resources in health, mainly but not exclusively in Portugal, Europe and the PALOP countries, in line with the Global Strategy for Human Resources and the Workforce 2030.
